You know the saying 'you never know what you have until you lose it'?  Well, I have just gotten a VERY thorough education on that very concept.

Last week, my mom was admitted to the ER with her blood pressure reading 243 over 118.  If you know anything about BP, you know this is dangerously high.  And if you didn't- you know now.  Normal BP ranges, but for arguments sake: the average BP should be approximately 120 over 65.  With my moms BP being so high- we're lucky she didn't have a stroke, or even worse, have her heart just give out.

So as you can imagine I am very lucky that my mom is still here with me and I just finished serial watching drop dead diva with her.  But anyways, back to the nitty gritty:

Mom stayed in the hospital for a week.  During this time I: dropped my roomies off to work, fed roomies, cleaned the house, got gas (this was worth mentioning since gas is SO DAMN EXSPENSIVE!) handled my dads idiocy with moms sickness, communicated with the family (which isn't easy lemme tell you: 2 sisters with ALOT of kids, grandkids, their own kids being married, nieces, nephews- need I go on?), and tried to stay positive as I could, and listen to everything the doctors were saying . . . which wasn't much.

In fact, I only met with one once- and I was in his office (separate from the hospital) because I had caught a nasty case of bronchitis (during the time was in the hospital of course, why wouldn't I get sick when my mom needed me?)

    ANYHOODLES:

Mom is finally home safe and sound.  After being in the hospital for a week, numerous tests, new medications, changing medications, and all manners of stress: she's home.  I am so happy- stressed, but happy nevertheless.  In the end, they never found the cause of her sudden spike in BP, OR the reason why it's staying so high.

    Wait- why was I writing this . . .

Ah, yes:  I wanted to let you all know that I will be taking some time off DA.

Oh, don't cry!  I'll be back: but with my mom and all- it's made me seriously think about what I want out of life . . . and I need some quiet time with me, myself, the roomies, a lot of cake and Netflix.

Until my mom is feeling better, I am handling most of the things going on around the house: it's a big job- one, I think, I wasn't quite prepared for- and it's scary.  So please keep my mom and the family in your thoughts as she heals, and we try to task ourselves to aiding her in a speedy one.

Goodbye my marshmallows: you all have been a wonderful joy in my life.

    Until next time:
